Chennai: Though the city has witnessed a sharp dip in Covid-19 cases in the last one week three zones in Greater Chennai Corporation are not in tune with the trend. According to statistics Tondiarpet Royapuram and Thiru Vi Ka Nagar saw only a marginal drop. As against the 34 per cent decline in cases reported in the city the cases in these three zones dropped by only 8 per cent 10 per cent and 16 per cent respectively. Officials said they have increased focus on these three zones and expected hope that cases would come down here soon. Tamilnadu on Tuesday registered 18023 new Covid-19 cases and the total number of infections has touched 2274704. The capital city of Chennai registered 1437 cases. With this the total number of persons affected by the pandemic in the metropolis has touched 519574. As far as Chennais neighbouring districts are concerned Chengalpattu registered 773 new cases Kancheepuram saw 279 infections in the last 24 hours and Thiruvallur posted 407 positive cases.
