Pair cheats elderly fish vendor with fake Rs 2,000 note

CHENNAI: An elderly fish vendor , cheated by two unidentified men who gave her counterfeit notes while making two purchases worth `300 each, has filed a complaint with the Thiruvottiyur police.Kupamma, 65, a resident of the Ennore Tsunami resettlement area, was approached by two men on a motorcycle who stopped by her shop at the fish market in Thiruvottiyur on Sunday morning.They presented her with a counterfeit '2,000 currency note and purchased fish worth `150.Duped by the pair, Kupamma gave them change and they left, only who returned to the shop for a second time 30 minutes later.Handing her another fake note of `2,000, the men bought more fish from her for the same cost.
