In a fresh development in Tamil Nadu politics, AIADMK members of Jayalalthaa faction led by Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, on Thursday contended that the appointment of TTV Dhinakaran as deputy general secretary by Sasikala violated the party by-laws. The resolution, signed by the office-bearers including Palaniswami, was released to the media after the meet. A resolution adopted at a meeting convened at the party headquarters here said Dhinakaran was expelled by Jayalalithaa in December 2011 from the primary membership of the party. Following Jayalalithaa`s death in December 2016, the AIADMK split into different factions. One faction is led by Panneerselvam, who rebelled against the leadership of Sasikala. The other two factions are led by Palaniswami and Sasikala. His reinduction into the party on February 14 and his appointment as deputy general secretary the following day were in violation of party bylaw 30 (V). The AIADMK Jayalalthaa faction has hence asked the party cadre to reject the appointments, as they are invalid.
