CEOs run for children’s rights

The run is aimed to create awareness of the need to protect children’s rights and also encourage CEOs of leading firms to participate in the social cause. United Way Chennai and UNICEF organised the 2nd annual CEO Run at Nehru Stadium on Sunday morning. Captain DP Ramachandran, a 1971 war veteran, declared the games open and Jayasankar Menon, former basketball captain for India, closed the ceremony. The others included a 4x100 relay, 100 m sprint, tug-of-war, couples run and the final, ‘The Last Mile,’ in which every CEO showed their commitment to the cause. While 15-year-old Sabri Venkat, a visual challenged motivational speaker from Coimbatore, was among the many children who participated in the event, 8-year-old national archery player Anoop Skandha led his team of CEOs to win the champions title.

The others included a 4x100 relay, 100 m sprint, tug-of-war, couples run and the final, ‘The Last Mile,’ in which every CEO showed their commitment to the cause. Among the various runners were Lakshmi Narayanan and Sanjeev Jain of Cognizant Technologies, Murugavel Janakiraman of matrimony.com, Raju Venkatraman of Medall Healthcare, Aruna Krishnan of RITZ Magazine, GRK Reddy.
