In the absence of a traffic police personnel near the Church of South India (CSI) Church and West Tambaram bus terminus, pedestrians find it difficult to cross what is one of the busiest sections of Grand Southern Trunk Road. When contacted, the Chennai Traffic Police officials said they were aware of the situation, and have deployed traffic police personnel permanently to help the pedestrians cross the Road. Pedestrians complain that traffic police personnel are deployed on this section only during rush hour. A pedestrian subway connecting the eastern and western sides of Grand Southern Trunk Road is avoided by pedestrians for two reasons — hawkers and water seepage. The personnel have to be deployed en-route, and near-at the venue of the functions.

When contacted, the Chennai Traffic Police officials said they were aware of the situation, and have deployed traffic police personnel permanently to help the pedestrians cross the Road. During State government functions, and VIP visits to the city, there is no other option. The personnel have to be deployed en-route, and near-at the venue of the functions.
