more-in Stating that the study material for NEET would be made accessible for students even on their mobile phones, Minister for School Education K.A. Sengottaiyan said the extensive bank of questions and preparatory material would be released in a phased manner. “Of the 50,000 questions which are being prepared to aid students attempting NEET and other competitive examinations at the national level, the School Education Department will release around 1,000 to 2,000 questions every week from the end of October. This will be made accessible online and also on mobile phones,” he said. The Minister had earlier announced that to make students ready to face competitive examinations, the State government was planning to bring out comprehensive study material put together by experts and teachers from across the country. He was speaking on the sidelines of a conference for school principals in Tamil Nadu on ‘Futuristic Schools’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Rajalakshmi Institutions. Smart classrooms Addressing a plenary session of the conference, Mr. Sengottaiyan said that with a view towards helping schools keep up with technological advancements and changes, they had planned to introduce nearly 3,000 smart classrooms in schools across the State. “Global tenders will be floated next week,” he said. While the revamped curriculum would be released on November 15, Mr. Sengottaiyan said that the curriculum would be kept accessible to the public for about ten days to invite suggestions following which, changes and updates would be made accordingly. At the conference, sessions which highlighted the role of a principal in the evolving education system, which included discussing their authority and accountability in the current scenario, were held. Around 130 principals participated. M. Ponnuswami, vice-chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu State Council, said the conference was being organised to give the principals a platform to share their experiences in the field of education.
