Man detained for abetting suicide

The Kotturpuram police have detained a person for abetting the suicide of a businessman on Monday. According to the police, Mohanakumar, a businessman, had committed suicide by jumping into the Adyar a few months ago blaming usury. The Kotturpuram police, on investigation, found one of his friends to have charged exorbitant interest and abetted the suicide. Initially the case was registered as suspicious death, which was later altered to 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
