SIVA SARAVANAN more-in The mandatory seeding of Aadhaar numbers with mobile numbers is receiving poor response from BSNL subscribers in Coimbatore SSA of BSNL comprising Coimbatore and Tirupur districts. BSNL had initially announced that seeding of Aadhaar with mobile numbers was mandatory on or before February 6. However, it was extended up to March 31. In spite of several initiatives taken by the BSNL, seeding of Aadhaar was yet to take off, lamented officials here on Thursday. At the end of February 21, only 2,48,936 mobile subscribers had seeded their Aadhaar number of the total 6,91,252 subscribers. BSNL is taking various initiatives including sending bulk messages to the subscribers, but of no avail. It introduced a dedicated Integrated Voice Recording System (IVRS) for Aadhaar seeding from January 15. The subscribers could call 14546 from their mobile and seed their Aadhaar number without any hassle. This was introduced mainly to help senior citizens, who couldn’t visit BSNL offices. Besides, BSNL allowed senior citizens, physically challenged persons and NRI customers to seed their Aadhaar number through their website. NRIs could seed the Aadhaar with their local mobile numbers.
