Coimbatore shivers on coldest day in 9 years; maximum temperature 24.5°C

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore lived up to its reputation of being a poor man's Ooty on Wednesday when it recorded a maximum temperature of 24.5°C. While the city recorded a temperature of 26.2°C on Tuesday, the temperature further fell by almost 2°C a day later. "Nowadays, 24°C and 26°C are maximum temperatures recorded in Ooty. "According to the data available with us, we have not seen a colder day in July or a lower maximum temperature recorded in the month at least since 2010," said the station director, S Paneerselvam. "Experts with Tamil Nadu Agriculture University's Agro Climate Research Station said they didn't have any data showing a colder day in July, since 2010.
