Five held with wild boar meat fined

Coimbatore: Five people were detained by forest department officials for possession of 5kg wild boar meat. During injury, the five told forest officials that they had found a dead wild boar at Vellikuppampalayam area in Sirumugai forest range and taken the meat from the dead animal.Forest officials released all the five after they paid the fine amount. They were later let off with a fine of Rs 5,000 each.Based on a tip that a gang was in possession of wild boar meat, Sirumugai forest range officer EN Manoharan and his team detained R Rangasamy, 60, C Vadivel, 32, C Prakash, 38, N Muthukumar, 32 and N Krishnan, 54, and seized the meat.
