more-in Three persons were killed after the two-wheeler they travelled collided with a speeding car near Pollachi late on Saturday. The accident took place when the trio was returning home from a coconut husk processing unit where they were employed as head load workers. M. Vinith (18), Jai Ganesh (21) and P. Saravanan (17), all hailing from Vanjiyapuram, were killed in the accident which took place at NGGO Colony on Pollachi – Kottur road around 10.30 p.m. They were doing head load works at a coconut husk processing unit owned by Ravi at Vanjiyapuram. The police said that Vinith rode the two-wheeler with Ganesh and Saravanan in the pillion seat on the way to their houses after work. None of them had worn helmet. As they reached NGGO Colony, the car drove by Shanmugam from Chinnampalayam collided with the two-wheeler. Three of them were thrown off to the road in the impact of the collision, suffering injuries in head and other parts of the body. They were rushed to Government Hospital Pollachi were Vinith died without responding to treatment. Ganesh and Saravanan were referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where they succumbed to injuries later. The Pollachi East police have registered a case against Shanmugam under Sections 279, 337, 338, 304 (A) of the IPC.
