Udhagamandalam: The Nilgiris district collector J Innocent Divya has given out a list of places for immersion of Vinayaka idols after the festival.In a press release, she informed that the idols can be immersed only at Law’s Falls in Coonoor, Kamarajar Sagar dam in Ooty, Irumbu Palam river in Gudalur, Ponnani river in Pandalur and Uyilatty Falls in Kotagiri.She further requested the public to celebrate Vinayaka Chathurthi in an eco-friendly manner by using idols made out of raw clay.The collector said when Vinayaka idols made of chemicals like plaster of Paris and inorganic paints are immersed in water bodies, it results in water pollution and harms people.
