more-in The Salem division of the Southern Railway has been providing enhanced passenger amenities at Coimbatore junction in the recent past, especially after obtaining the ISO certifications. The concourse area at the junction and platforms were given extra lighting, the quality of audio of public address system was enhanced, and mobile charging points and LED coach positioning facilities were improved recently, said P. Sathesh Saravanan, Station Director, on Sunday. Mr. Saravanan said the mobile charging points, including the mobile holders, were provided at the concourse, reservation counters, near A/C waiting hall and on all the platforms. Over 250 passengers could charge their mobiles at a time. Mobile holders were provided by the electrical department officials. Besides, platforms 2 and 4 were also provided with LED coach positioning facilities as on platforms 1 and 3. Passing trains were arriving at and departing from platforms 1 to 4. These facilities would be helpful for the passengers to wait at the right place before the train arrived at the station, Mr. Saravanan added. Though platforms 5 and 6 were used only for originating and terminating trains, sanction had already been received for commissioning coach positioning facilities for these platforms too, he added.
