Coimbatore: The all- woman police (central) registered an FIR on Sunday against the prison warder for harassing his wife.Thirty eight-year-old K Boopathi of Gandhipuram was working as a prison warder at Coonoor sub-jail in Nilgiris district. Boopathi allegedly harassed his wife and demanded 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments and cash to buy a motorcycle. Again, the case was withdrawn as Boopathi assured Sudha that he would take care of her and his daughter. Unable to bear the mental and physical torture, Sudha lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case under sections 498 (A) and 323 of the Indian Penal Code.

He married Sudha, 34, of Salem in 2007. Boopathi allegedly harassed his wife and demanded 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments and cash to buy a motorcycle. Therefore, her parents lodged a complaint with the all women police, Salem and FIR was registered against him. However, later, based on Boopathi’s request, her parents withdrew their request. After this, she stayed with her parents.Last year, she filed a case before the Salem mahila court seeking maintenance from her husband. Again, the case was withdrawn as Boopathi assured Sudha that he would take care of her and his daughter. Later, she moved to Gandhipuram with her daughter.Nevertheless, due to misunderstandings, the couple parted ways and lived separately for the last ten months. After a counselling session through the couple, they reunited in February 19, 2018. Sudha became pregnant and Boopathi wanted her to abort. It is alleged that he harassed her and assaulted her on face. Unable to bear the mental and physical torture, Sudha lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case under sections 498 (A) and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.
