24/7 water supply project to be extended to added areas

Coimbatore: The 24/7 water supply project will be extended to the added areas of the city corporation, commissioner of municipal administration G Prakash said here on Wednesday.The civic body is planning to implement it in 11 added areas of the corporation limit.The civic body is working steadily to implement the Pillur-III water supply scheme to improve water supply mainly to the added areas, a corporation source said. “Per capita water consumption could be increased if the project is implemented. “In the old corporation limit, the private company has completed consumer survey at 17 wards as on September 5. “It will be similar to that of DB Road and TV Samy Road.”The commissioner also inspected the sewage treatment plant (STP) at Ondipudur.

It is currently working at four wards.”Prakash, who is in the city to review smart city projects, said the civic body is also planning to implement the underground sewerage system (UGSS) in eight of the added areas at a cost of Rs 1,000crore.Speaking about the model road projects, he said that the project will also be implemented at Race Course at a cost of Rs 60crore. “It will be similar to that of DB Road and TV Samy Road.”The commissioner also inspected the sewage treatment plant (STP) at Ondipudur.
