Tirupur: Due importance is not given to grama sabha meetings in Tamil Nadu, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) president Kamal Haasan said here on Thursday.MNM has been trying to emphasize the importance of the meetings, the actor-turned-politician said while addressing a gathering after a tree planting drive in the district. “Youths should attend the meetings. I have meeting youths to make them realise their potential and participate in politics. If they realise it, tomorrow will be ours,” he said.Citing his participation in a reality TV show, Haasan said, “I have been meeting several people as part of the show every week. But, I am more happy to meet them in political meetings. While the reality show brings me fame, meetings bring love.”Instead of making promises to do social work, MNM strives to carry out the work, Haasan said. He visited nine places in Dharapuram, Palladam, Kangeyam and Tirupur on Thursday. He also visited Ellappalayam, one of the eight villages adopted by the party. MNM plans to construct an electrical crematorium and plant one lakh trees in the village.
