Sasikumar murder: Prime accused Mubarak out on bail

Mubarak filed a petition before the special court, seeking conditional bail. The court also instructed him to appear before the special court during the trial. NIA filed a chargesheet before the special court on June 21 and prevented Mubarak from coming out of the Salem jail. However, the bail petition was rejected.But the HC granted him bail on September 12 and asked him to produce two sureties. He has been barred from going abroad.

Coimbatore: A Mubarak of KK Pudur , the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Hindu Munnani spokesperson Sasikumar—who had obtained bail from the Madras high court recently—came out of the Salem Central Prison on Wednesday.The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has decided to move the Supreme Court to cancel the bail.Meanwhile, Popular Front of India district president Anwar Hussain appeared before the NIA sleuths at Race Course on Thursday in connection with the murder case. Instead of inquiring about the murder, the sleuths were interested in the functioning of PFI, he told reporters.Mubarak, who was arrested by the Crime Branch -CID (Special Investigation Division) on December 25 last year in connection with the murder, was booked under Section 302 read with 120 B, 301 read with 34, 153 A (1) (b) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 16 (1) (a), 18 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act), 1967.Later, the investigation was handed over to the NIA and the case was transferred to the special court for NIA cases at Poonamalle in Chennai from the Coimbatore principal district judge court.As per the UAPA norms, the investigation agency should file the chargesheet against the accused within 180 days.
