Now, you can get your image woven into saris including Kanchivaram bridal sari , at the Marutham Co-optex showroom near the Nehru Stadium here.The showroom also has saris decorated with Tirukku?a? verses, traditional symbols, portraits of goddesses and temple sculptures. The outlet, renovated at a cost of Rs 1.5crore, was opened by local administration minister SP Velumani on Friday. “Co-optex, or the Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society run by the department of handloom, handicrafts, textiles and khadi of the Government of Tamil Nadu, had always been running on a loss. It began earning profit only a few years ago,” the minister said.Besides saris, the store also has khadi materials, handicraft, bags and bedsheets specially designed for children, among others. It had made a sale of more than Rs 3crore during Diwali last year. It aims to earn Rs 5crore this fiscal. Many products have 30% discount.
