Bikers beckon tourists to Wayanad saying ‘it’s open & safe to explore’

The bikers are the most qualified people to say if riding or driving to Wayanad is safe.”The bikers distributed stickers, posters and brochures to the public, travel agents and tour operators. “The bikers belong to a biking group in Wayanad, who we roped in. “From here, we will ride to Mettupalayam on September 23, from there to Nilgiris, then to Mysore and back to Wayanad,” Praveen told TOI. “Wayanad witnessed the longest southwest monsoon that lasted for three-and-a-half-month. However, we want people to know that the district recovered in a short period and a majority of its sought-after destinations, including resorts, are again open to receive tourists,” said marketing manager of DTPC Wayanad PP Praveen.The bikers began the ride from Wayanad on September 21.

Coimbatore: A month after heavy rain and floods ravaged it, a group of 20 bikers from Wayanad in Kerala are riding to destinations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala to tell people that the rural district is again ready to welcome tourists.The bikers rode into city-based hotel The Residency Towers holding a banner that said ‘Wayanad Tourism: Destinations are open and Wayanad is safe to explore.’The interstate rally ‘Wayanad Beckons’, was organised by the Wayanad District Tourism promotion Council.Roads to Wayanad are safe and back to normal, the bikers said. “Wayanad witnessed the longest southwest monsoon that lasted for three-and-a-half-month. As a result, the tourism sector came to a standstill. However, we want people to know that the district recovered in a short period and a majority of its sought-after destinations, including resorts, are again open to receive tourists,” said marketing manager of DTPC Wayanad PP Praveen.The bikers began the ride from Wayanad on September 21. They visited Mysore before reaching Coimbatore. “From here, we will ride to Mettupalayam on September 23, from there to Nilgiris, then to Mysore and back to Wayanad,” Praveen told TOI. “The bikers belong to a biking group in Wayanad, who we roped in. They were too happy to participate in the ride. The bikers are the most qualified people to say if riding or driving to Wayanad is safe.”The bikers distributed stickers, posters and brochures to the public, travel agents and tour operators. “We also want to take this opportunity to thank people from the neighbouring states for the support they extended to us during the floods,” said Praveen.Wayanad is a popular tourist destination among the people in Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Mysore and Bengaluru.
