more-in The Indian Railway has increased the price of tea and coffee sold on trains from ? 7 to ? 10 with effect from September 20, according to a release from from railway board. However, the standard tea (drum tea) sold at the stations remains at ? 5, the release said. Meanwhile, the zonal railways have been empowered to permit the catering units to sell food items at platforms, depending up on the local requirements of catering services of passengers. Permission can be given to food plazas, refreshment rooms and other static catering stalls located at platforms. Zonal railways will decide the number of vendors to be allowed and the proportionate license fee increase and it depends on the category of stations. In Coimbatore junction, new licenses were issued to set up their units only in platform 1A, 5 and 6. The catering units should compulsorily display rates of food items and FSSAI certifications.
