Coimbatore: A total of 17,127 applications for adding names, deletion and change of address to the electoral roll were received from the public across the 10 assembly constituencies in the district on Sunday.As per the direction of Election Commission of India (ECI), the second special camp for adding new voters’ names, deletion of names and change of address to the voters’ list were held at the polling stations on Sunday. Form-6 to add new voters’ names to the electoral roll, Form-7 to remove their names, Form-8 to correct address and names and Form-8A to change address were given to the people at the special camps from 9.30am to 5.30pm. Revenue department officials supervised the camps and visited many polling stations.As many as 12 ,879 new voters submitted Form-6 to add their names to the electoral in the 10 assembly constituencies of Mettupalayam, Sulur, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore North, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore South, Singanallur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi and Valparai. At least 1,067 people submitted Form-7 and 1,743 people Form-8 in the special camps. A total of 1,438 people submitted Form-8A across the 10 assembly constituencies.District collector T N Hariharan inspected a few polling stations. He said in the first special camp conducted across the district on September 9, they had received 13,509 forms for adding new voters, 1,193 forms for removing their names from the voters list and 2,946 forms for address changes.The third special camp will be conducted on October 7 and the fourth on October 14. Forms will be received from the general people till October 31. Final electoral roll will be released on January 4, 2019.
