Tirupur: Police are clueless about the whereabouts of a 59-year-old money lender even days after he was kidnapped at Moolanur here on Saturday night. A three-member gang, two of them his former business partners, had abducted him at knifepoint when he was travelling in a car.According to police, S Pitchaimuthu, a native of Atthappanpatti in Dindigul district, had been residing at Alamunagar in Coimbatore for more than two decades along with his wife. Apart from involving in usury business in Coimbatore, he was running a financial firm at Mangaluru in Karnataka, a police officer said.For the financial firm, Pitchaimuthu had earlier partnered with Selvam of Idaiyakottai in Dindigul district and Ramasamy of Oddanchattaram in the same district. Pitchaimuthu cut the deal with Selvam and Ramasamy later, but allegedly did not return around Rs 1 crore to the duo despite continuous requests, the officer said.Meanwhile, Selvam went to Pitchaimuthu’s house and threatened his wife Kamalam of dire consequences if her husband didn’t return the money.On Saturday, Pitchaimuthu went to attend a marriage function near Moolanur. While he was returning home at night in a car, along with his relative Kuppusamy of Atthappanpatti and driver Senthil Kumar, three-member-gang waylaid them at Chennakal Valasu junction on Moolanur-Dharapuram road and abducted him in their car.Moolanur police subsequently registered a kidnapping case and formed a special team to rescue Picthaimuthu. “So far, we did not get any lead on the whereabouts of the victim. But it’s clear that Selvam and Ramasamy were among the gang, which kidnapped Pitchaimuthu as his driver has identified the duo during the incident. We hope to rescue him and arrest the accused soon,” said a senior police official, who didn’t want to be named.
