Coimbatore: The district crime branch police on Monday registered a case against a man on charges of cheating at least 11 people of Rs 57 lakh by promising them to get government jobs.P Kulasekaran, 66, a retired havildar from Indian Army, of Salaipudur near Alankulam in Tirunelveli district lodged a complaint with the DCB of Coimbatore rural police on Monday. In his complaint, he said P Chandrasekar from Lakshmipuram in Theni district befriended him during 2014 and introduced him to N Perumal of Pollachi in 2015. “Perumal told Kulasekaran that he was close to politicians, ministers and members of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) and could get government jobs for anyone. He asked Kulasekaran to collect money from people who want government jobs and promised him a percentage in the amount,” Kulasekaran mentioned in the complaint.Believing Perumal, Kulasekaran handed over Rs 6 lakh to him at his residence in Pollachi on behalf of Subburaj of Kovilpatti in 2016, the complaint said. “Later, Kulasekaran collected Rs 51 lakh from 10 people. He gave Perumal part of the money in person and some were transferred through online. But Perumal failed to keep his promise,” it said.“Perumal forged appointment orders for government jobs and gave them to Kulasekaran. When he checked the orders with government officials, Kulasekaran found them to be forged,” the complaint said.Subsequently, Kulasekaran filed the complaint, based on which, the DCB has registered a case against Perumal under sections 406, 420, 294 (b) and 506 (i) of the Indian Penal Code.“Perumal travelled between Coimbatore and Chennai more than 29 times, often by flights, claiming to meet ministers, politicians and TNPSC members. Kulasekaran had paid for the entire expenses,” the complaint added.
