Unapproved plot owners to be penalized

No new plots will be considered for regularization after November 3 and such cases will come under the mainstream of layout approval.The government had introduced the scheme in May, 2017 for plot owners to regularize unapproaved layouts and plots. CHENNAI: The state government is contemplating levying penalties on unapproved plot owners who haven’t submitted regularization applications by November 3, 2018.Commissioner of municipal adminsitration, G Prakash, in a letter to all corporations in the state stated that those who submit the applications within six months of November 3, will have to pay 10% regularization charges as penalty. Those submitting it in the 6-12 month period, penalty will be 25% and for a delay of more than a year will attract 50% charges as penalty. There will not be any changes in the rate of development charges and has been specified in the earlier government order dated October 22, 2018.
