Relative arrested for murder of AMMK functionary

The Thadagam police registered a man missing case on October 22.Preliminary investigations revealed that Jayavenu had gone to his relative Suresh’s farmland at Varapalayam along with another relative Rajesh of Palanigoundenpudur to have drinks. In a fit of rage, Rajesh murdered Jayavenu using wooden logs and dumped the body in an abandoned well. The case was registered by the Thudiyalur police in 2006. Jayavenu was the urban secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) of Era.Police said Jayavenu had travelled to Coimbatore in a bus to appear before the court on October 1. She then approached superintendent of police R Pandiarajan who ordered to register an FIR and investigate the case immediately.

Coimbatore: The Thadagam police have cracked a murder case by arresting a relative of the victim on Tuesday.The victim, D Jayavenu, 36, of Eral in Tuticorin district, came to Coimbatore on October 1, 2018 to appear before a court as a witness in connection with an attempt to murder case. The case was registered by the Thudiyalur police in 2006. Jayavenu was the urban secretary of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) of Era.Police said Jayavenu had travelled to Coimbatore in a bus to appear before the court on October 1. But, he neither appeared before the court nor returned home. His wife J Baladeepa, 29, approached police who did not register an FIR. She then approached superintendent of police R Pandiarajan who ordered to register an FIR and investigate the case immediately. An argument broke out between Rajesh and Jayavenu. In a fit of rage, Rajesh murdered Jayavenu using wooden logs and dumped the body in an abandoned well. Learning that Baladeepa had approached the police over her husband’s missing, Suresh committed suicide a few days ago.Police on Tuesday picked up Rajesh for investigation. During inquiry, Rajesh confessed to the crime. The Thadagam police had planned to approach the tahsildar to fish out the body from the well.ss
