23-yr-old man detained under goondas Act

Coimbatore: A 23-year-old man, who was arrested for robbery in November 15, was detained under the goondas Act on Saturday.He was identified as S Riyasudeen of Vincent Road at Kottaimedu. She was waiting for her husband with her family in front of a restaurant at RS Puram when Riyasudeen, who was on a motorcycle, snatched the chain. He was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison, but came out on bail from the prison in July and started to snatch gold chains. He is also facing a case for stealing a motorcycle in Singanallur police limits,” the officer added.RS Puram police (crime) inspector J Kalaiyarasai has recommended city police commissioner Sumit Sharan to detain Riyasudeen under the goondas act. “He had snatched an 8.25-sovereign gold chain from Suguna, wife of Velusamy, a resident of Raj Avenue at Indira Nagar in the city on November 15.

She was waiting for her husband with her family in front of a restaurant at RS Puram when Riyasudeen, who was on a motorcycle, snatched the chain. But local residents caught hold of him. He flashed a knife and threatened the crowd. But people managed to nab him and thrashed him, before handing him over to the police,” a police officer said.“The Ukkadam police had arrested him in January for kidnapping a college student along with his accomplices for ransom. He was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison, but came out on bail from the prison in July and started to snatch gold chains. He is also facing a case for stealing a motorcycle in Singanallur police limits,” the officer added.RS Puram police (crime) inspector J Kalaiyarasai has recommended city police commissioner Sumit Sharan to detain Riyasudeen under the goondas act.
