COIMBATORE: As many as 165 village administrative officers VAOs ) in Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu have started indefinite strike on Monday.A group of VAOs, led by K Saravanan, district secretary, Tamil Nadu Village Administrative Officers Association (TNVAOA), started its indefinite strike in front of Alandurai town Panchayat office on Monday morning. Most of the office of the VAOs are not having basic facilities like electricity, drinking water and toilets. We will approach the villagers and explain our demands," said Saravanan.The VAOs raised slogans in front of Alandurai town panchayat office and demands the government to fulfill their demands immediately. We are demanding the government to provide basic amenities for us," said Saravanan.He also added that the state government didn't provide internet connection for VAOs to issue online certificates. But VAOs spent their own money for the internet charges.
