Textile players honoured for their excellence

Coimbatore: After 25 years, the city hosted the India Textile Conference on Saturday. It aims to help members acquire textile qualifications towards improved job performance. TAI was founded in 1939 and its south India unit in 1950. Felicitating the awardees, managing director of Thiagarajar Mills Karumuthu T Kannan said there was an urgent need for an institute to impart training to textile managers, as textile graduates prefer jobs in other fields.While at least four speakers are from abroad, about 50 of the 500 delegates in attendance are from other countries.

Coimbatore: After 25 years, the city hosted the India Textile Conference on Saturday. The two-day event is conducted every year by the Textile Association of India (TAI) to update professionals and management of the industry on the latest technological advancement and machinery available.The conference, ‘Global Textiles the Way Forward’, will have panel discussions and technical paper presentations by at least 16 speakers from leading machinery manufacturers like Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, Rieter, Truetzschler and Saurer.TAI president T K Sengupta said the association has some specific objectives including promotion of use of scientific knowledge in textiles from fiber to garment and implementing programmes of continued education to the managements.Chairman of Premier Mills Private Limited Jagadish Chandran was honoured with the lifetime achievement award for his services to the textile industry.
