Police Verification Services launched in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore police on Wednesday launched online Police Verification Services to enable people to get four types of Police Verification Reports ( PVR ) within 15 days. They no longer need to visit police stations and wait for weeks together to get the verification report,” he added. Both the city and district police launched the service.All those – public and private companies – who want to do self-verification, job verification, tenant verification and domestic help verification could do it from anywhere in the world just by visiting the Tamil Nadu police website – www.eservices.tnpolice.gov.in – with necessary documents, said inspector general (IG) of police K Periaiah. The government has fixed a charge of Rs 500 per application for individuals and Rs 1,000 per application for private companies.The aim of the service is to verify the identity of a person, his/her current address and to check if he/she is involved in any criminal cases as per the records available with the state police, he said, explaining that the service is applicable only for verifying those who reside in the Tamil Nadu.“The verification process would be completed within 15 days, and a copy of PVR would be sent through the registered e-mail to the applicants. Also, the applicants need to submit the application along with challan at police headquarters or commissioner office and collect it from the respective office,” the official added.At present, the district police receive about 1200 – 2000 applications annually and the city police receive 2400 – 3600 applications annually, the official said, adding that in the last three years, most of the private companies have not recruited people without doing police verification process.One of the applicants, Lakshmi from RS Puram, who applied for self-verification report during the trial period, said that her verification procedure had started within a day after she submitted her application and she received the report within three days.

The status of the process could be checked with PVR number in the website itself.To check the authenticity of the PVR report, applicants could scan the QR code that is available on the report through the verify option available on the website, said the commissioner of police Sumit Sharan.He said that the verification process would be initiated only if the applicant has attached consent letter of the person to be verified is uploaded along with other documents and it is to ensure that the verification process is carried out with the knowledge of the consent person.The background of the person to know whether he/she is a trouble monger or has political influence would also be checked, said an official incharge of the service.“At present, the verification process has been done manually and it takes at least 30 to 50 days as the files need to move from headquarters to concerned police station and it has to come back once verification is completed.
