Man from Kerala who robbed bizman of Rs 8.75L arrested

Tirupur: A 31-year-old man from Kerala was arrested on Wednesday for robbing two money transfer service providers of Rs 8.75 lakh on Attayapalayam-Iduvai Road here on November 25, last year. On November 25, Kesavan could not deposit all the money as the cash deposit machines of a nationalized bank were full. “The four planned and executed the robbery when Sijo came to appear before a trial court in the city,” they said. According to police, three more people from Kerala are involved in the crime and a manhunt has been launched to nab them.The arrested was identified as V Sajid, of Angamaly in Ernakulam. “He usually deposits the money in banks during week days and in cash deposit machines on holidays.

According to police, three more people from Kerala are involved in the crime and a manhunt has been launched to nab them.The arrested was identified as V Sajid, of Angamaly in Ernakulam. An investigation officer said Sajid, along with the trio on the run, had knocked down R Kesavan, 28, of Iduvai, and his brother-in-law S Vetrivel, 23, from their bikes while they were returning home after the business hours on November 25, and made away with the cash.Kesavan, the officer said, runs a medical shop and also provides money transfer service at Kaniyampoondi near Vanjipalayam. “He usually deposits the money in banks during week days and in cash deposit machines on holidays. On November 25, Kesavan could not deposit all the money as the cash deposit machines of a nationalized bank were full. So, he took Rs 8.75 lakh to his house in a shoulder bag. Vetrivel, who works with him, followed him on another two-wheeler,” the officer said.When they reached Attayapalayam-Iduvai road, a car knocked them down and a passenger took away the money from Kesavan, who noticed that the car wore a Kerala registration number.“During the probe, we found one Reegan had borrowed the car from his friend and he along with Sajid, Sijo alias Othappan and Lalu had committed the crime,” the police officer said.Sajid was arrested with the help of Kerala police on Wednesday. Police said there was a criminal case pending against another accused Sijo in the city. “The four planned and executed the robbery when Sijo came to appear before a trial court in the city,” they said.
