Kerala police gather info on saffron outfit

Tirupur: A four-member police team from Palakkad in Kerala visited the city on Wednesday to conduct inquiry about Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), after six members of the saffron outfitincluding three womenwere arrested for marching to Vavar mosque at Erumeli, on the way to Sabarimala temple.The team visited several places in the city, including the Tirupur north police station. The information will help them when the accused file bail petition,” a police officer said.Palakkad police had arrested HMK members Sushila and Revathi of Tirupur, Gandhimathy of Tirunelveli, Tirupathi and Murugaswamy of Tirupur and Senthil Kumar of Coimbatore while they were on the way to the mosque.Earlier, HMK leader Arjun Sampath had alleged that the entry of two women, who entered Sabarimala for the first time in history, was planned at the installation ceremony of late chief minister M Karunanidhi’s statue in Chennai.
