Tamil Nadu tourism department collaborates with Isha Yoga for Pongal

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu tourism department is collaborating with Isha Yoga Centre to celebrate Tamizhar Thirunaal - Pongal this year. Pongal will be celebrated on the centre's premises in Coimbatore from 3pm to 6pm on January 16.In a release, Isha Yoga said people from across the world with distinct culture and religion would join the Pongal celebrations that will include Pongal pots, sugarcane , rangoli and traditional games.On the occasion of Mattu Pongal, 15 varieties of native cattle breeds like Kankarej, Kangayam, Sahiwal, Gir and others will be exhibited to represent the importance of cattle in Tamil culture.Apart from this, cultural programmes from Thappatam team, Dharapuram, Isha Home School , Isha Samskriti and Sounds of Isha will also be held.Prasadam will be distributed to all the visitions at the end of this celebration on the centre's premises.
