City to host jallikattu event next month

The event will be held in association with the district administration.While a jallikattu event is said to have been held in 1979 in the Nehru Stadium, the event held on January 28 last year was the first to be held in a traditional set-up. “We have formed the forum with 25 members to ensure wider participation and a collective spirit,” said a representative.Jallikattu will be held on the last year’s venue at Chettipalayam near the L&T Bypass.While about 450 bulls and 500 tamers participated in the event last year, the organisers plan to bring in about 500 bulls and 600 tamers from across the state.
