The event will be held in association with the district administration.While a jallikattu event is said to have been held in 1979 in the Nehru Stadium, the event held on January 28 last year was the first to be held in a traditional set-up. “We have formed the forum with 25 members to ensure wider participation and a collective spirit,” said a representative.Jallikattu will be held on the last year’s venue at Chettipalayam near the L&T Bypass.While about 450 bulls and 500 tamers participated in the event last year, the organisers plan to bring in about 500 bulls and 600 tamers from across the state. Coimbatore: While bolting bulls and brave tamers at Avaniyapuram and Palamedu in Madurai are being watched by people across the state on TV, city people will have a chance to see them in action on February 10.In January last year, when the bull-taming sport was held in the city for the first time in 39 years, it found a connect with the city-folk from all backgrounds and age groups, in the backdrop of the 2017 jallikattu protests.The organisers, who brought the sport to the city last year, told TOI that they have floated ‘Kovai Jallikkattu Sangam’, a convergence of people, to conduct the event.
