COIMBATORE: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday inaugurated a memorial constructed to honour farmer leader C Narayanasamy at Vaiyampalayam.The memorial is constructed at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore. Former chief minister J Jayalalithaa had announced in the assembly on February 2016 about the construction of the memorial.Narayanasamy was one of the pioneers in organizing farmers’ movement in western Tamil Nadu Narayanasamy had organized farmers protests demanding welfare for farmers such as free electricity.Palaniswami also laid foundation stones for the new auditorium and library to be constructed by the publics works department (PWD) at the Coimbatore Government Law College on Maruthamalai Road, at a cost of Rs10.16crore, office buildings to be constructed at a cost of Rs3.55crore on the Industrial Training Institute campus, Kavundamalayam, and a new office building on the campus of the Sarkarsamakulam union town panchayat office.
