Six micro composting centres to treat wet waste generated in Ooty

Wet waste was dumped at the yard in Theettukkal till now,” said Ravi.The civic body has instructed the big hotels in the town to manage the wet waste they generate. “Hotels in the town manage 5t wet waste. We expect an output of about 2t compost a day from each MCC,” municipal health officer Murali Shankar said. About 320 municipal workers benefited by the arrangement. Each MCC can process 5t wet waste a day.The municipality has removed all garbage bins from the town, except the 10 placed in remote areas, municipal engineer C Ravi told TOI.
