Male leopard found dead in Nilgiris

Udhagamandalam: A decomposed carcass of a leopard was found in the Cherambadi range of forests in the Nilgiris on Thursday.According to forest officials, the leopard might have died a few days ago. Forests watchers stumbled across the decomposed carcass when they were patrolling in the Cherambadi forest range in Gudalur division of forests.Manoharan, forest range officer, said, “Preliminary postmortem report revealed that the leopard was a male and around six years old.” According to the forest official, there was no wound in the carcass, samples of which were collected and sent for lab test.“Only after we get the forensic lab report we will be able to ascertain the cause of the animal’s death,” the forest official said.
