5 special teams formed to nab jewellery thieves

Coimbatore: The city police have formed five special teams to nab the three-member gang that attacked the staff of a courier firm and decamped with 5.79kg gold ornaments, 1.42kg silver ornaments and diamond jewellery when he was on the way to the airport on Thursday. “The trio threatened Prithivi Singh, an employee of Air Parcel by flashing a knife and sprayed chilli powder on his face before snatched the bag containing the valuables,”a police officer said. They have also collected CCTV footage from commercial establishments and traffic signals.The gang members, who arrived on a motorcycle, were wearing helmets, police sources said.
