BJP for aligning with AIADMK despite Thambidurai’s statement against Modi schemes

COIMBATORE: BJP general secretary Muralidhar Rao did not rule out an alliance with the AIADMK despite AIADMK leader M Thambidurai’s statements that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schemes in Tamil Nadu were a failure.When asked if Thambidurai’s statements would scuttle any chances of an alliance between BJP and AIADMK, Rao said the BJP did not have any problem engaging with any party. “Thambidurai’s statements are an individual’s,” he said.He said Modi’s connect with people in Tamil Nadu was growing. “I will not comment on it because the AIADMK party leadership has not issued any such statement,” he said. “The BJP has always encouraged private sector and entrepreneurship because they provide employment and self-reliance,” he added. He also said Thambidurai statements was AIADMK’s problem.While speaking to reporters after an interaction with stakeholders in the textile industry as part of Bharat “Mann ki Bath, Modi ke Saath” programme, Rao was asked to comment on Thambidurai’s statement.

When there is progress, we will declare our alliance and engagement talks,” he added.The BJP general secretary said they were meeting people from all walks of life and sectors across the country to collect ideas to include in the BJP’s vision document for the 2019 elections. “Textile is an important cluster, because after agriculture, it employs the highest number of people and contributes to exports,” he said. “The BJP has always encouraged private sector and entrepreneurship because they provide employment and self-reliance,” he added.
