COIMBATORE: The tender for laying a four-lane stretch for 5km from Karamadai to CTC Bus Depot in Mettupalayam has been finalised. The financial estimate for this section is Rs 14.95 crore. The work included construction of four culverts, said an NH official. “work would start this week,” the official said.A total of 120 trees would be cut for the widening project, said NH officials . Native species such as peepal would be replanted, said officials.The Mettupalayam Road is set to get three flyovers, at Kavundampalayam, G N Mills and Perianaickenpalayam. While the Perianaickenpalayam flyover would come up at a cost of Rs 82 crore, the Kavundampalayam flyover would come up at a cost of Rs 66 crore and G N Mills flyover at Rs41crore.Tenders for the flyovers have been floated separately. The site clearance work for the flyovers were in progress and construction would start soon, officials said.
