Coimbatore: A 25-year-old man committed suicide by hanging at his residence located inside the collector's bungalow premises at Race Course here on Thursday evening.The deceased was identified as P Vignesh. “His father Ponnusamy is working as an attender at the camp office of the collector. He was residing along with his family in a house located inside the collector's bungalow premises. Vignesh, who was addicted to alcohol, was getting de-addiction treatment from the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. On Thursday, he attended a funeral at Neelikonampalayam, where he consumed liquor. He returned home in the evening and locked his room from inside. After he did not come out of the room, his father knocked on the door. As there was no response from Vignesh. the door was forced open with the help of other staff. Vignesh was found hanged from the ceiling fan,” a police officer said.Race Course police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the CMCH for postmortem. Police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.
