The Founder’s Day celebrations at Kumaraguru College of Technology was held in a grand manner this week. After the formal fête, a multi-cultural fest was organised by the college to celebrate the diversity and togetherness in India. Kalaabam , a three-day cultural fest featured performers of various traditional arts from different parts of the country.A fest to celebrate the diversity of India. The event began with a stunning recital by Mohiniyattam dancer Divya Nedungadi, which was followed by rock concert by Rajasekar and band. The rock and roll band performed some rock, folk and blues numbers, albeit in Tamil, which won the hearts of the audience. Other performances that struck a chord included recital by Ghatam Karthick and team, Mizhavu Melam (a drumming art from Kerala) by Kalamandalam Eashwara Unni and team, Kalaripayattu by Kailassam CVN Kalari and Dollu Konitha (a traditional dance form of Karnataka) by Mallikarjuna and Anjaneya Swamy Youth Association. Haja Maideen and team brought in the Sufi spirit as they performed qawwalis in Tamil and Arabic. In-house talents in the college also had the audience in rapture as the Kumaraguru Drama Troupe performed a Tamil play titled Madhyama Vyayoga, a play based on the characters of Mahabharata.
