Coimbatore: A renowned city-based urologist was arrested on Friday night for molesting a patient’s daughter at his clinic on Avinashi Road.Police identified him as Ramalingam, 65, owner of Gowtham Clinic. “He is a specialist in urology and a regular speaker in medical conferences held across the country. A 26-year-old Selvapuram resident had brought her mother, who was suffering from kidney stones, to his clinic last Tuesday. While explaining about the disease, the doctor allegedly touched the young woman several times,” a police officer said.The woman lodged a complaint with the all women police (central) on Friday. Based on her complaint, police booked the doctor under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998, and arrested him. He was produced before a judicial magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. He was later lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
