University teachers demand pay commission benefits

Coimbatore: The Association of University Teachers (AUT) has demanded the state government to implement recommendations of the seventh pay commission for teachers of technical institutions.The association pointed out that the recommendations of the pay commission were implemented for the university and college teachers about a year ago shortly after it was implemented for state government employees. President of AUT N Pasupathy said the state government did not implement the pay commission for the teachers of technical institutions even after the University Grants Commission (UGC) approved it. The resolutions were passed on Sunday in the city after a new general council of AUT was constituted. Pasupathy was elected as new president while Bala Murugan as general secretary and P Elangovan treasurer. During the council meeting, 14 resolutions were passed.
