| Monday | 1st April, 2019
To address the issue, TNAU developed the new variety of jasmine, which will flower throughout the year. The star jasmine, however, looks a little different from jathi malli.
Coimbatore: There is a good news for the daily users of jasmine - Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU)’s newly-released star jasmine, which promises flowers throughout the year, is expected to enter local markets in next six to seven months.
“It is also drought tolerant and could grow with lesser water than the popular CO 1 jathi malli,” Pugazhendhi said.
When they bloom, the petals are white, but they are leaner, longer and spread out, compared to the petals of the traditional jasmine flower.
If they are mixed with jathi malli and kept in a tray or garland, the latter will still retain their strong fragrance and look.
