Coimbatore: Three boys aged 16 raped a class 10th girl

The three accused are students of class 11th and 9th respectively. The class 11th boy raped 15 year old girl near riverbed while the other recorded the video. 

The class 11th student aged 16 and his two friends of class 9th and 11th aged 15 and 16 were booked under various sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual offences) Act and Information Technology Act. They were produced before a juvenile justice board and sent to an observation home.

One of the accused of class 11th allegedly raped a 15 year old girl while the other two students recorded the video on mobile phone and circulated it on social media.

Gurubarapalli police stated that the 15 year old victim’s mother died few years ago and her father a truck driver is a drunker. The girl’s younger brother is also a student. The three arrested boys were also from the girl’s neighborhood.

According to the police, one of class 11th boy befriended the girl, took her to nearby riverbed and allegedly raped her on August 5 around 5pm meanwhile another class 11th boy recorded the video on his mobile phone. The boys later shared the video with one of their friends a class 9th student and he in turn circulated the video on social media a few days ago.

The video went viral in the locality and girl’s father who came to know about it confronted the main accused on Saturday. He later lodged the complaint in Gurubarapalli police station in Krishnagiri district on Sunday and police arrested the accused. The girl was sent to Krishnagar government hospital for medical examination.

The offenders have been charged under Section 3 (penetrative sexual assault) section 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) Section 13 (b) (c) (use of child for pornographic purposes) read Section 14 (punishment for using child pornographic purposes) of the POCSO act and section 65 of IT Act.

Police are conducting further investigation. The identity of victim is not revealed to protect her privacy as per SC’s directive on cases related to sexual assault.
