Coimbatore receives 700+ Covid-19 cases for two consecutive days

A month-long aggressive campaign of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, including roadshows by political parties, is now being considered as one of the main causes of the second wave of Covid -19.
Coimbatore district recorded 735 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Monday, while one person succumbed to the virus in the district. Coimbatore crossed the 700 cases mark for the second consecutive day as 727 cases were received on Sunday.
Fresh cases on Monday pushed the district`s active cases tally to 4,738.
The cumulative death toll has reached 708 after the death of a 60-year-old woman on Monday.
The number of containment zones has reached 75 in the city, an addition of 31 new areas in the last three days.
A massive surge in Covid-19 cases has been reported in South India. Daily cases of Covid-19 infection in Tamil Nadu crossed 10,000 last Sunday. Recently, a month-long aggressive campaign due to the assembly elections, including roadshows by political parties, is now being considered as one of the main causes of the second wave of Kovid infection. The fact is that the government machinery took steps to control the matter only after the voting was over.
