Coimbatore records all-time high 3944 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Sunday

Coimbatore district added 3944 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Friday, pushing the active cases tally past the 31,000 mark to 31,578.

Coimbatore district added 3944 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Friday, pushing the active cases tally past the 31,000 mark to 31,578.

It was not only the highest ever in Coimbatore, but the highest any district other than Chennai reported in Tamil Nadu.

The district`s cumulative death toll stands at 1020 after 21 more people succumbed to the virus on Sunday.

Coimbatore district saw the recovery of 2,454 patients on Sunday.

The number of people diagnosed with mucormycosis (black fungus) also increased to 12 as one more patient infected with the virus on Sunday.

According to health officials 19,695 patients, about 62% of the total infected in the district, were under home isolation.

Tamil Nadu reported 35,483 new cases and 422 deaths on Sunday.
Chennai reported 5,169 new cases on Sunday bringing the city’s total to 4,87,710. The state recorded 422 deaths on Sunday, putting the state toll at 20,468. 308 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities.
