2.1 lakh saplings planted in 37 districts of TN

Coimbatore, Jul 6 (PTI) "Cauvery Calling" team has planted a record 2.1 lakh saplings in 37 districts of Tamil Nadu in the first week of July. The saplings were planted in 700 acres of farmland. This is an effort to re-ignite humanity"s connection with nature and encourage citizens to plant and nurture saplings in their surroundings. The team visited the farmland to study soil type, water quality and availability and other ecological and economic factors before recommending appropriate species to farmers for planting. "Cauvery Calling" was launched for river revitalisation model proposed by the Rally for Rivers, a campaign, started by founder of Isha Foundation, a spiritual organisation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in 2017, according to a press release.
