Salem city to get ring road soon:CM

The Government Arts College at Edappadi town will get additional post-graduate courses soon, he said. more-in The voters of Edappadi constituency took full advantage of the day- long visit of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to his constituency by personally handing over a large number of petitions to him on Sunday. The Chief Minister received petitions from the people at Nangavalli, Jalakandapuram and Edappadi towns. This is only the second visit of the Chief Minister to his constituency since he took charge in February. Many elderly women presented petitions complaining the abrupt discontinuation of the old age pension. There were grievances related to ration cards and welfare assistance. A few differently abled persons made demand for monthly financial assistance. The Chief Minister enquired the details with each petitioner and directed the officials concerned to take immediate action. He even directed the department concerned to handover a photo copy of the petition to the officials of his office accompanying him. Even though the Chief Minister arrived a couple of hours of behind schedule, the people thronging the travellers bungalow in Edappadi town, waited patiently. Mr. Palaniswami visited the Senraya Perumal Temple at Periya Soragai and offered worship. He was received with full temple honours. The rural Edappadi constituency has attracted national attention with his election as Chief Minister of the third biggest state in the country, he said and assured to live up to their expectations. Salem city will soon get a new ring road covering about 54 km. from the Arabic College on Salem – Bengaluru national highway, he said. Already a few flyovers are under construction in the city and one more new bridge will come at the Sago Serve – Salem Steel Plant road junction. The tender for this project will be finalised soon. A new government polytechnic college will come up on the government higher secondary school premises at Vanavasi and a new B.Ed college at Yettikuttaimedu village. The Government Arts College at Edappadi town will get additional post-graduate courses soon, he said. The District Collector V. Sampath and other senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister.
