Mentally ill man caught stealing from temple hundial

They immediately handed him over to the Race Course (crime) police.The preliminary investigation revealed that Singh used to beg near the railway junction and sleep near the temple. Coimbatore: The city police detained a 24-year-old youth who attempted to steal money from a hundial at the Vinayagar Temple in front of the railway junction here on early Thursday morning.Police claimed that the man was mentally challenged and stole Rs 1,200 from the hundial. He was found to be mentally challenged and he was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). After collecting his details, the police officials let him off. The police seized the money from him and he was later let off.On Thursday around 1.30am, some people going to the railway junction caught red-handed Singh, 24, son of Irudhayasamy of Puliyakulam, while he was stealing from the hundial using a stick with chewing gum glued to it.
